The events held at the public hall cover a wide variety of fields, but some of the events that have been held at the public hall since its inception include the “Tozanryu Shakuhachi Concert” from 1930, the “Dance Competition” (sponsored by Tokyo Newspapers) from 1931, the “Music Competition” (sponsored by Mainichi Newspapers) from 1932, the “Shinpuryu Shigin (Poetry Recitation) Competition” and the “Symphony Concert for Young People” from 1939, and others.
The “Music Competition” (sponsored by Mainichi Newspapers) was not only the forerunner of the various competitions that spread rapidly after World War II, but it also produced many musicians and became a gateway to success in Japan’s musical world.
Trying this stage with all the passion of youth, there are many musicians who have successfully won the crown and have since been successful both in Japan and abroad.
